Bedroom suite

RANCHI

2022

A renovation and addition to an existing home, the project, designed for a young couple, reimagines domestic space as a setting for tactile living where material, light, and proportion shape a quiet and introspective environment.

The palette is deliberately elemental. Walls are rendered in a mixture of river sand and limestone, lending a soft, breathable texture that shifts with light through the day. Rosewood defines the woodwork and furniture, introducing depth and permanence, while reinforcing a sense of continuity across spaces.

The living area is anchored by natural flatstones hand-picked from the bed of a rivulet in the Patratu Valley. Each piece selected for its irregularity and character, bringing the memory of the landscape into the home. Their placement underfoot creates a subtle connection to terrain, grounding the space in its immediate geography.

Together, these elements form a home that is calm and enduring, where the richness of natural materials fosters a slower, grounded way of inhabiting space.
